Metal guitar lessons
Fantastic one on one service received. Would recommend Greg as a guitar teacher with patience, inspiration
and enthusiasm. I only availed of his services for 3 months due to maternity leave, but in 3 months Greg has inspired me to continue learning the guitar once I have more time,
and has given me lots of work in the mean time.
He is passionate about guitar music and it certainly rubs off on you. Dont think about it too long, just go for it.
I had never picked up a guitar in my life prior to Oct 2009!
Rachel Concannon - 12 Jan 2010
I've been recieving lessons from Greg since April'ish this year. I only began my "real" focus on learning the guitar
this January.
Greg has done a great job in both inspiring after each
and every session to continue learning and maintain my interest and improve my technique. His lessons are always fresh, new, but he does check up on if I’m doing what we previously covered and if he see's I’m lacking He will be honest and will again work on this weakness with me until
I get it right.
One thing I appreciate alot with Greg is, his critique, He is honest with identifying my weaknesses and what I can improve on, and he tells me how I can do it, and will keep
at it til he see's me improving. That’s something I value
in the guitar lessons as theres no sugar coating, if there’s
a weakness He will (very humourly and politely) identify
and improve it.
Greg is very skilled in his guitar playing and does pass
a lot of his knowledge onto students. As i said, he keeps
his lessons fresh and gives time to improve, whilst also
covering other aspects.
He's also pretty flexible with his lessons, if there’s
something you feel you need to work on, he'll help you.
Over the few months, with Greg's help and enthusiasm
I can honestly say I've made a improvement with my
playing.

It is obvious that Greg's passion is music and its really nice that he is so enthusiastic about teaching what he has learnt to others.
Greg goes out of his way to tailor the lesson to the student and in my case this has really helped me to progress in
the short time he's been teaching me.
As to cost he's not the cheapest but for a change you really get what you pay for. Where as with other tutors I have left lessons feeling a bit cheated, Greg always packs as much as possible into the time available and is worth the few extra quid!! Overall a great teacher well worth checking out whether your starting out or improving your guitar skills.
Nigel Richardson - 6 Dec 2009
I started my courses in September 2009 as a beginner
and today I am able to play songs that I like thanks to Greg.
He's always here to help when I have a problem, offers solutions even during the week when I really want
to an answer and the lesson is not before a couple of days.
I recommend his class if you either want to start learning how to play the guitar or improve yourself!
Fanny Baratto - 5 Dec 2009
My guitar playing has improved tremendously since I have been taking lessons from Greg.
I had played a bit before but have now moved (dare I say it) to another level. I wanted him to focus on technique as that is where I felt I was lacking. He is doing that but also looks at other aspects such as composition, improvisation and ear training.
All I can say is that it works for me and I am very happy
with the results. On a personal level, he is nice guy
whose enthusiasm for the guitar is infectious. I can highly recommend him.
Tom Bryant - 4 Dec 2009
Have been going to see Greg for approximately six months now and am making good progress.
I would thoroughly recommend him for anyone that actually wants to learn the instrument as opposed to someone who just wants to learn a few licks.
That said i also know he will tailor his lessons to what it is you want to achieve.
He's very patient, a very talented musician and a very good teacher who understands time constraints on practise given some of us have 'real' jobs!
James Brookes - 4 Dec 2009
Charlie has started guitar lessons with Greg at the start of the year and I have seen a huge improvement. Charlie enjoys his weekly lessons and benefits from so much more than just learning to play the guitar
Caroline Kerschbaum - 9 Sep 2009
I have been taking lessons from Greg for the last three months and I've been very happy with the results I have got.
He has gone well beyond the standard "learn this lick" type
of approach many tutors seem to have.
He's been able to break down and clearly explain physical aspects of playing the guitar as well as help me develop things such as improvisation and ear training.
He has been very patient, and listens carefully to what I want to achieve in my guitar playing, then structures his lessons accordingly.
On the whole, my experience of lessons with Greg has been very positive and he has been better than my previous tutors. It is a 2 hour journey for me to get to each lesson.
As you could imagine I wouldn't be bothering to do this if
the quality of tuition was not very high!

Greg provides good quality guitar lessons in Wimbledon.
He encourages you to use the full neck of the guitar, thereby allowing you to develop lead as well as rhythm guitar
Kevin (Wimbledon) - 8 Sep 2009
Greg taught Jake, my 14 year old son for six months from Nov 2008 to June 2009. The only reason we no longer work with Greg is because it is not possible for Jake to make weekday lessons now that Greg's work pattern has changed.
Greg is a good teacher with lots of patience and the ability to make you feel like you could be the next big thing in rock! He keeps his lessons fresh and varied and has an enthusiasm for his subject that holds the pupil's interest well.
Lessons are not just about playing, they also include some elements of theory and bits of education around the history of rock, and also some inspirational video clips to give you something to aim for!
I would not hesitate to recommend Greg to anyone -especially young people such as my son.
I hope that we may work with Greg again in the future.
Stephen Sparrow - 16 Jun 2009
I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar but with
a low boredom threshold I always worried I would give up too easily. However in Greg I have found a tutor who really mixes it up and makes every lesson interesting. I have now been tutored weekly by Greg for the last 3 months and my enthusiasm is as great as when I started!
Mark Gold - 12 May 2009
I have had 6 lessons with Greg, and I found them exceptionally useful. He has opened my eyes to aspects of guitar playing that would have taken me years to work out
on my own. I am very pleased to be working with Greg,
and would recommend him to anyone.
Paul Nell - 26 Apr 2009
I have so far had 7 weekly guitar tutorials (plus the free demo lesson) on a one to one basis. I had only being playing guitar for 6 months, with a teacher for just the latter three months. Greg?s lessons were largely around improving my technique, particularly that relevant to metal, when playing the electric guitar.
These lesson are in contrast to those provided by my previous teacher who focused more on teaching me songs rather than on also ensuring I was also playing them in
the most efficient and accurate manner.
Every lesson started on time. I liked that when I first met the Greg, they asked what it is I wanted from them.
He also made it clear that it was not his intention for me
to be learning to play guitar for the rest of my life as
a guitarist. He made it clear that there should be goals
which should be achieved.
In the first lesson, after having heard what I hoped to get out of the lesson and having seen what I could do, he already had a strategy for helping me achieve my goals, which he shared there and then and agreed with me. It was very arriving at the lesson and finding that the teacher had hand outs ready and already had a plan, never actually asking me what it is I wanted to do.
This was very important to me as I wanted someone
to instruct me. I don't like going to lessons and having my teacher ask me exactly what I want to do, as I feel that they should know what is best for helping achieve whatever goal
I outlined when we first met. The learning environment was also very comfortable and the instructor was very friendly while managing to remain sufficiently authoritative
as a teacher.
He also clearly loves his job of teaching and takes great pride of it which seems to make him an even better teacher for it. It also helps that he was once a self taught guitarist who then took lessons and has many certifications including in teaching. He has personal knowledge of what bad habits people teach themselves and what a good teacher can do
for a guitarist. I wish I had started having lessons with him from the second I first got my mitts on a guitar.
The only small concern I had was, considering the cost
of the lessons, I really wanted to get the most out of
the lesson, including minimising what I consider wasting time. The instructor occasionally got carried away
explaining or demonstrating something that was trivial
to the lesson or just went on for longer than I felt necessary.
I have a tendency to ask questions in my quest for knowledge () and it is possible that due to politeness, he humoured me. I would prefer for the teacher to, at most, briefly cover the matter, or even tell me it will be revisited
at a later time when more time can be given to the subject.
All in all, I enjoyed my lessons and feel that I have learnt things that I would never have arrived at by any other means or from other teachers.
I know there is a lot more I can learn, which is why I am certain that I will be looking to have more lessons when I can (before I started my lessons with Greg, I had enrolled
for a 10 week guitar class in the hopes of getting used
to playing with other beginners. The classes have started now, meaning I can?t manage my lessons with Greg as well. But as soon as I am done, I will be back with Greg).
Tara Zengeni - 24 Apr 2009
Greg is a great guitar teacher. I really learned a lot
and thoroughly recommend him.
Justin Olivier - 21 Apr 2009
Greg's guitar lessons are fun and he quickly gauged the level I was plus the speed I best work at ( I am a beginner).
He encourages at the right time but is also happy to point out mistakes and look for methods to rectify these.
The best thing is he will understand what your aims are
and look to get you there quickly, but also making it a fun experience. Take him up on his 1 hour free lesson to see
if he is right for you (what is there to lose).
Vikash Shah - 19 Apr 2009
Greg has taught me a lot in 12 months. If you want
to improve your playing, no matter what level you are, I'm sure Greg can help you. I was locked in the first 5 frets
of the guitar so I searched the web and found Greg.
I now know all the keys and how to play the whole neck.
I still have a lot to learn but Greg has improved my playing
a lot and he makes the learning fun.
David Rae - 18 Apr 2009
After 5 years of the Guitar sitting in the corner Greg was
an inspired find - anyone who has any interest in playing should take this lead - the progress has been exceptional & the re kindled passion a joy to witness. You can't beat
the one to one personalised sessions & with the added bonus of sharing of music/artist obsessions, Greg is a fantastic gift that keeps giving.
Corin Rossouw - 18 Apr 2009
I have been taking lessons from Greg for about 5 months now and have to say I am extremely happy. His teaching is very results-orientated and he has taken me in this sort time from someone who used to amuse himself with a guitar to being
a GUITARIST.
With his great attitude and motivation he has re-sparked my passion for music and he is giving me more and more skills
to get the most from that passion.
All I can say is I wish I met Greg a long time ago already!
Steven Gouws - 17 Apr 2009
My daughter really enjoys her lessons and is encouraged by
a professional & enthusiastic approach. I would recommend this teacher to my friends.
Frederika Denison - 17 Apr 2009
Guitar lessons in Wimbledon have really helped my playing. Coming from a blues hard rock background and with 7 years playing under my belt i wanted to improve me playing
and move my playing forward.
Greg has shown me a whole new approach to playing guitar witch has started to iron out the bad habits i have picked up and the wrong teaching had had been shown in the past.
In short a very good program and i am pleased on
the content and progression i am making.
Simon Warwick - 17 Apr 2009
I have been taking guitar lessons from Greg for 5 weeks( 7 sessions) . As a complete beginner I've thought that will take ages to become a good guitarist, but with Greg as a teacher it could be done quite fast I think. He is a very good musician and teacher.
Claudio from van taxi - 12 Dec 2008
I had guitar lessons with GregX. I'd not played for a few years and he taught me so much in just 5 sessions that I now feel I can progress with the basic techniques. I had previously reached a plateau and Greg helped me to surpass this whilst correcting all my self taught bad habits.
I will be going back to Greg as soon as I come back
from my break.
I'd recommend him highly to anyone wanting to further their playing, whether that be basic beginner to full on shred head! Greg has a fun and relaxed way of teaching and really enjoys seeing his pupils progression. Thanks Greg!
Otto Bennett - 10 Dec 2008
I travel all the way from Cambridge to London to meet up with Greg. I've been a guitar player for a long time. But Greg has been instrumental in spotting my technical flaws
and showing me the right way. As a guitarist he has a very good technique. I've really enjoyed my classes and Greg has pushed me to go further every time! Highly Recommended!!
Ryan D - 5 Dec 2008
Greg is a very talented musician and an equally impressive teacher. The lessons are relaxed and focus on the individual needs of the student. He is friendly, patient and has excellent motivational skills. I have noticed a big improvement in my playing ability and I am looking forward to improving even further.
Daniel Fitzsimons - 4 Dec 2008
I was a complete beginner. I have shopped around for guitar teachers in my area of London and Greg has everything I needed: Years of experience teaching, a competitive price, and the lessons are a 3 minute walk from Wimbledon station. The lessons were fun, to the point, and in relation to
the music style I enjoy. After 8 lessons I am 100% confident I want to keep playing and improve.
Pierre Jouvet - 2 Dec 2008
I can highly recommend this. Within one hour,
Greg had completely changed my right hand technique,
and I was able to play faster, and more accurately.
After a few lessons, I had improved more than I had in
the past couple of years.
Really good value, and excellent quality. Greg will progress you at the rate you have the desire to progress at.
Can't ask for more than that.
Finn M - 1 Dec 2008
Covered all weak areas and improved my strong points. Very good service and high quality of teaching from a teacher with exceptional skills. Highly recommended.
Donald Clark from wiki tube - 23 Nov 2008
The Guitar lessons take place in a well equipped spacious room. The Guitar tutor, Greg, conducts the lessons in
a friendly ,relaxed & attentive manner. The Tutor allowed me to choose the musical direction i wanted & has since supported & directed my progress.
Mr Christopher Green - 22 Nov 2008
A friendly professional service. Great Value from a very experienced guitarist!
Jonathan Williams - 22 Nov 2008
I have been taking guitar lessons from Greg for about six months now, and the the massive improvement in my playing, even as an already quite advanced guitarist, is testament to Greg's ability as a teacher.
Greg genuinely develops a personalised programme for each of his students, identifying and working on weaknesses
and making the time spent with him count. He also takes care to ensure that the work he does with you matches your own aims and goals, no matter how lofty or modest they are.
James Scott - 21 Nov 2008
A real eye opener of a teacher. Picked up 3 of my bad habits in the first minute of watching me play. Greg really does know what he is doing and you do get fast results
as the advert says. Only on my 3rd lesson but already I have learnt things i thought would have taken months to grasp. Worth every penny
Sammy Alattar - 21 Nov 2008
Greg is an excellent musician and teacher who loves his music and his guitars!
I've been having lessons with Greg for 3 months and am very pleased with my progress and the content of the lessons. Greg makes the lessons interesting and fun and always willing to help and answer queries outside the lessons.
James Spencer - 21 Nov 2008
Greg is an awesome tutor. I struggled with many tutors over the years but Greg really knows how to keep you interested and teach you everything you need to know.. from the basics up! He even came to a music shop with me to help pick out the perfect guitar for me!
Steven Parker - 21 Nov 2008
Thanks to the lessons I received from him, I know how to get where I want to be and even more important that I will get there. You get more value out of his classes then money you put in.
Danny Selleslags - 21 Nov 2008
I started working on guitar with Greg few weeks ago.
I was playing guitar for long time, but I never understand
its secrets and how all the scales and modes work on
the fretboard. Now everything is more clear thanks to him, If I had met him long time ago, maybe now all my guitar skills would have been different and much more better. Thank you very much....
Kleber Battaglia - 20 Nov 2008
Guitar lessons in Wimbledon were really awesome. I live far from Wimbledon as I am from East London but I have travelled that far to make it to my lessons every week since Greg, my guitar teacher, made sure he gave his all to help me improve on my guitar playing and learning guitar from Greg was a very good experience for me, and I am being honest..
I've learnt a lot from him in a month than from my previous guitar teacher who I have been learning from for 3 months. Greg always spotted mistakes in my playing, and helped me correct them in order to play better and faster, his lessons are well planned, organised and is a seriously enjoyable learning programme for me!
Sarah Jane Pasiliao - 20 Nov 2008
There are guitar teachers then there are those ones that are exceptional. Greg is one of the few good ones that can really help you progress. Like anything the harder you work the better the rewards, yet to practice something poorly is
a waste of time. Greg will help to keep you focused.
